Yesterday was my last day at my job so I preached the Gospel to as many of my co workers as i could. Here is a small story of one interaction.
A older women I work with was raised a Christian (shes 60). she left the faith about 20 years ago and said she has been practicing Judaism . I asked her yesterday if she knew what the Gospel was, she said she wasn't sure. (which blew my mind after being raised Christian)
I told her about Christ dying for our sins according to the Scriptures and I showed her Isaiah 53. She was very amazed about the prophetic nature of the Text. Then I told her about Christ raising from the dead according to the Scriptures (Psalms 22 Psalms 16 Hosea 6) she saw that there was a foundation for believing what I believe. and understood why I had kept the faith.
Then I told her about why we call Jesus the blood of the Lamb from the OT story of Moses and the 10 plagues and how the the Hebrews needed to eat the lamb and put the blood on the door posts of they're home and when the wrath of God came it would "pass over" those homes which had the blood of the lamb on the door posts.
Do you realize that those simple foundations being explained to her brought her back to faith in Christ in about 10 minutes.
I truly believe that if we seem to find some new converts we should spend months and months on the foundations of the Gospel threw the Scriptures, She told me if she would've known those simple truths she would've probably lived life much different and not left the faith.
She thought Christianity was going to Church on Sunday and getting encouraged to do good, She had no idea that there was a strong theological foundation.
She left the faith 20 years ago because she was never given a foundation of truth. and came back when taught just simple but glorious truths out of the Scripture.
If your a Pastor/leader i suggest you spend this Sunday laying a foundation from the Scriptures about the Gospel and the Christ for I'm fairly certain that not very many people in your Church (besides the leaders) know of such theological foundations #theologymatters.
The Gospel is the Good News of a real event, That the Son of God died for your sins, was buried, and resurrected as Lord of the living and the dead. Confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in you heart God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. 1 Corinthians 15:1-12 Romans 10:9
